For nearly two years I worked with Rich at DST Output in conjunction with developing and implementing the companies first and largest national product offering, an advanced Marketing and Relationship Management enterprise that allowed many of the largest and most success brands in the US manage their customer engagements. It was one most complex, comprehensive and cutting edge solutions DST had created to date and contained modules supporting a range of capabilities. I was the Marketing Product Manager supporting this executive driven initiatives and Rich was the team leader managing all of the IT related requirements, which were substantial.
Rich provided an enormous amount of skill, experience and expertise to myself (and the project) to ensure that we successfully created requirements and developed a front end solution that would offer brand new features and functionality to our clients but still integrate optimally with back office and our production environments and systems. This was a national solution and was required to integrate across all of DST’s regions…one of my most difficult requirements. Rich was not responsible nor required to assist with this but on many occasions went above and beyond his job to help me foster support, clarify and build requirements and educate stakeholders, across the country at all levels, from senior managers to executive level management.
Rich was highly respected and known by all of his colleagues (including myself) as being an expert. He was also known to be very hands on and always willing to help educate, better understand and offer advice or suggestions when we hit roadblocks or challenges. It was a pleasure having the opportunity to work with Rich and I”d do it again if the opportunity presented itself.
Rich is a great leader and great problem solver. I was so lucky to have such a incredible mentor and boss. Rich is personable and engaged not only in his people but the processes and strategies. He always brought such energy and vision to our work that you couldn’t help but be inspired. Rich is pragmatic in his problem solving abilities whether it’s a technical issue, people issue, or process issue. He’s a great asset to any organization.

Rich was the perfect software development manager: technical enough to lead or assist with in-the-trenches conversations about data modeling, architecture or process flow, but high-level enough to know when to let developers do their thing. He built a top-notch team at Ktech–from developers to project managers to testers–and pushed through an amazing amount of work for a small team in an efficient, fun manner.
